Connor and Ryan are enjoying having a little brother at home, although they are quickly finding out that he doesn't do much at this age besides sleep.

In the below video, Connor is reading a book to Zachary.

Welcome to the World, Zachary!

Zachary Alan Denson arrived on Friday, September 16 at 9:39pm. He is 6 lbs 15 oz and 21 inches long. Below is a picture of Zachary, just seconds after birth.
It was a quick labor with labor beginning around 5pm with very mild contractions. We were at Connor and Ryan's baseball practice and didn't get home until about 6:30pm. At that point, the contractions were still very mild, but slowely getting more noticable. I called my parents for them to come up and watch Connor and Ryan. They live 4 hours away and I assumed they would be able to make it before we would have to head to the hospital. After that, labor began to progress quickly and not long after 8pm, we called the hospital and asked a neighbor to come over to watch the boys until Granny and Grandpa could arrive. We checked into the hospital a few minutes before 9pm. When I was checked, I was already 9 cm dilated. With the next contraction, my waters broke and I was pushing. Zachary arrived about 40 minutes after we checked into the hospital.

Connor and Ryan come to the hospital on Saturday morning to meet their new brother. They are excited to be big brothers.

Tiger Cubs

Connor and Ryan are now Tiger Cubs. Today was their first den meeting and they were excited to get to wear their cub scout uniforms to school.Granny and Grandpa were here this past weekend and brought their sewing machine. Grandpa sewed on all the patches (Thanks Grandpa!!) with Connor and Ryan watching to make sure he did it right. Notice Grandpa's tongue sticking out in concentration.

Fall Ball

Connor and Ryan are playing fall ball this fall. Today was their first game and Ryan earned the game ball.
During the first inning, Ryan played second base and made a great play to get a player from the other team out. However, the next batter hit a ball that hit Ryan right in the eye. Luckily one of the parents had some ice and I held ice on Ryan's eye for most of the game. His eye is a little puffy, but doesn't look too bad. At the end of the game, Ryan went back out on the field. The coach gave Ryan the game ball for his contribution in getting the out and being brave enough to get back in the game after getting hit.

Red Rock Challenge 5k

Today all of us did the Red Rock Challenge 5k with the Red Power Divas.

The Red Power Divas is a great running/walking group and I have been walking with this group all season with Connor and Ryan. They love coming out every week to walk with the group, even though they have to wake up early to get there at 7:30am every Saturday morning. Below is a picture of the "Fit Kids" that ran the race. Ryan is #182 and Connor is #183. The girl in the blue shirt is a 7th grader that also goes to their school.
Here is a picture of Ryan with his walking buddy, Richard. Richard did the 5k race with us as his Dad did the 10k. It is pretty cute watching Connor, Ryan and Richard walking down the trail all holding hands and chasing each other.

We didn't know for sure if we would make it to this event, since I was 38 weeks pregnant on the day of the race. But, we all did it and Connor and Ryan made me work to keep up with them. They finished the race with a PR of 49 minutes and Ryan got 3rd place in the 5k. Connor got 4th place.

Here is Ed finishing the race in 1 hr 2 minutes.

After the race, Connor and Ryan had Taekwondo, then came home and passed out. It was a busy day!

Look, no training wheels!

The training wheels came off the bikes on Tuesday night. Connor and Ryan took off riding right away and really enjoy riding without the training wheels. Today, I took the boys to Shoreline to practice riding and had a great time on the bike path.

Look, no training wheels! (video)

Below is a video of Connor and Ryan riding their bikes without training wheels. Ryan was able to start riding from a stop right away, but it took Connor a few tries to figure it out. In the video, you can hear the Connor is excited that he can start on his own now.

Taekwondo

Connor and Ryan started taking a Taekwondo class. Their first class was on Saturday and they were the only kids, so they got a private lesson.
Today (Thursday) was their second class and there were five kids in the class.

The are learning a lot and seem to enjoy it. They are signed up for one month of classes, then we will see if it is something they want to continue or not.
