On Sunday, June 27, Connor and Ryan participated in the Dream Mile 5k at Shoreline in Mountain View. This is their second 5k race. The kids had fun in the beginning, but by the end of the race, the heat was getting to Ryan. He was complaining about how tired he was for the last 1k. Connor was a trooper the whole time and wanted to run more, but Ryan would complain if we didn't wait for him.

Giant Race 2010
The SF Giant Race Half Marathon and Plate to Plate 5k was today, June 12, 2010. I ran the half marathon and Ed, Connor and Ryan "ran" the 5k. The night before the race, we went to the Giant vs As game at AT&T park, so we stayed at the Marriott (the official race hotel). Since they were the "official" hotel, they had a shuttle to the race start, which was a little over a mile away. In the picture below, we are waiting for the shuttle to arrive.
We made it to the start with time to stretch, use the porta potties, and take pictures. Below is the four of us ready to race.

In the below picture, Connor definitely has the "when do we start" expression on his face.
And, they are off... Mile 2 and the boys are still going strong.
Um, I think the boys made a wrong turn. This is the 10 mile marker. Didn't anyone tell them that a 5k is 3.1 miles, not 10 miles????
Oh, there is the 3 mile marker... almost home.
And the boys made it. They finished the 5k in 1 hour 5 minutes and got their medals.

I ran the half marathon and finished in 2 hours 30 minutes. It was a hot day in San Francisco, and the half marathon course had lots of hills. It was nice to see cheerleaders, bands and choirs along the course to encourage the runner.
We did it! We all won and got our medals.

And, when we got home, Connor and Ryan insisted they were not tired, but ended up crashing on the living room floor at 3pm.
I tried waking the boys up at 5pm and 6pm, but they would not budge. At 6pm, I carried them to their beds. Now, at 7:30pm, they are still sleeping. At this point, I sure hope they keep sleeping until morning, because otherwise they will be up all night long. I don't remember the last time they crashed this hard.
SF Giants Baseball
On Friday, Connor and Ryan went to their first Giants baseball game. We got free tickets for signing up for the Giant Race.
The game started at 7pm and Ryan was ready to leave after the first inning. We left at 8:30 so the boys could get some sleep before the big race. We walked a mile to the hotel with constant "this is too far" and "where is our hotel"... but we made it.

First warm weekend...
The rain and cold weather has finally past, at least for this weekend. The temperature got into the 80s this weekend and the boys were able to play in the sprinklers today.
On Saturday I ran the See Jane Run "I run for Chocolate and Champagne" Half Marathon in the morning, then we enjoyed the afternoon at the Sunnyvale Art and Wine Festival.
